Badminton Competitions Season 2006 - 2007
Haddon Cup
The Haddon Cup is a cross-grade, mixed competition open to all players. Pairs are chosen by 'reverse grade', i.e. an A player with a D player and so on. The pairs are then given a handicap based on the grades.
Unfortunately, the Competition will not be held this year, but look out for adverts next autumn.
Club Championships
The Club Championships take place at the end of the normal season. All formats are included - mens doubles, ladies doubles, mixed doubles and mens & ladies singles.
Juniors play in their own competition. See right hand column for details and application form.
Rules and Information (amended 20/1/06)
Finals will be played on Saturday 21st April 2007 at 4.00pm.
Preliminary rounds for all events will be played during club sessions on the set dates (click for schedule).
All events will be played on a round-robin basis, followed by semi-finals (if required) and final.
If the number of entries is only sufficient for one group, the winner and runner-up go through to the final. If there are 2 groups, winners play runners up from the other group in a semi-final. If there are 3 groups, the winners plus best loser play semi-finals.
Preliminary rounds will comprise one game. Singles to be played to 15 with no setting, doubles to 21 with no setting. Finals will be the best of three games to 15 with setting.
The winner of the group shall be determined as follows.
- The player/pair who wins the most games.
- If two players/pairs have won the same number of games, the winner of the game between them.
- If there is no winner under (b), or if three or more players/pairs are equal, the player/pair from among them who wins the most points.
- If two players/pairs are then equal, the winner of the game between them.
- If there is no winner under (d), or if three or more player/pairs are still equal, the player/pair from among them who loses the fewest points.
- If two players/pairs are still equal, the winner of the game between them.
- In the unlikely event of three or more players/pairs being still equal, the referee's discretion must be used!
An entry fee of £3.00 per person per event will be collected on the evening of the event.
The finalists (only) from the lower section may play up into the next sections competition.
