With numbers reducing year-on-year and a general reluctance for members to purchase tickets until the last moment, it was decided to try a new format. This years Christmas Party was limited to 50 seats, which allowed the lounge to be used instead of the badminton hall and enabled Joyce to provide a sit-down meal along the lines of her private events. The idea certainly struck a chord, as the tickets were sold out within a few days and spare tickets were eagerly sought.

The evening kicked-off with mulled wine served at the door - very welcome on the chilly evening. Joyce's young team kept circulating with a selection of tasty bites. The meal itself was excellent (click here for the menu). The
'surprise' trio of deserts comprised portions of mince pie, chocolate brownie and raspberry sorbet, which worked really well together. Individual boxes of chocolates and coffee finished the meal off a treat.

Throughout the meal, an excellent selection of background music was provided by DJ 'Kim'. Then after the meal, she provided a livelier selection often augmented by her own singing. She certainly managed to keep the dance floor jumping until closing time.
