Ebbisham won this award after being one of three clubs nominated from the 11 Surrey borough winners of their local awards.
Ebbisham was awarded ‘Sports Club of the Year’ at Epsom & Ewell’s Sports Awards ceremony on 4th October at Epsom Downs Racecourse.
The Charlie Steer Trophy is awarded to the Most Supportive Club in Epsom and Ewell for the Surrey Youth games
Jamie Matthews, Ebbisham member and coach, won the National Deaf Squash Championships for the ninth time at the National Squash Centre in Manchester.
Ebbisham badminton coach Marie Benedict was named Sports Coach of the Year and Ebbisham Squash champion Jamie Mathews gained the Disability Sports Award at the ceremony held on 29 September in the Queens Stand at Epsom Downs Racecourse
Ebbisham were awarded the Surrey Sports Club of the year award with the following citation:
“Ebbisham Sports Club is a successful and supportive club in Epsom that consists of three sections badminton, squash and tennis. All three sections have gained Clubmark and the badminton section has also recently been awarded with Badminton England Performance Centre status. Ebbisham Sports Club has many links with the local community, providing the site for many youth and community projects. The club is also committed to developing coaches and officials who, in turn, often support these projects. The club has a junior and senior section for the three sports and strives to offer a high quality and friendly environment for all.”
