European Masters Nations Cup - Match Report
Last weekend marked one of the proudest moments in my badminton career and I didn't hit a single shuttle.
I was proud to support and assist the England team playing in the European Masters Nations Cup in Schiltigheim, near Strasbourg.
Our final match was against Denmark who were favourites and incredibly strong. Denmark thought they had won it and were already celebrating but when my score sheet was reviewed by the referee England were awarded the win by the finest of fine margins. There was a count back of games and we won it by 27-26 in the crucial head to head with Denmark!
Because it was so close, I went to check with the Danish captain that our score sheets matched. He was a bit dismissive. He said they had already won and the scores were irrelevant. There were 3 matches to go and all were critical. We knew it was still alive and our players were magnificent delivering straight set wins and getting the required points difference.
Congratulations to Ebbisham players Brenda Creasey and John Molyneux who played in the 65 division.
